REJOICE IN THE LORD
Leslie M. John
“Rejoice in the LORD, O ye righteous: for praise is comely for the upright. Praise the LORD with harp: sing unto him with the psaltery and an instrument of ten strings”(Psalms 33:1-2)
Sing to the Lord, o you His servants. He is compassionate and longsuffering. His judgments are true and righteous and His counsel stands for ever and ever. Seek His mercy, just as David, the king of Israel sought. He hoped and trusted in the Lord and his soul waited upon the LORD to deliver him from death and famine.
King as he was, David knew that no king was ever saved by the multitude of his army, neither any mighty man ever delivered by much of his strength. Know you the servants of the LORD, His might, wisdom and power just as king David did of the power of the LORD. The LORD brings the wisdom of this world and the counsel of the heathen to none effect; but His counsel stands for ever and His thoughts will prevail throughout all generations.
Horses were of vain strength in David’s sight even though he knew that they were the best warfare in his time. He relied on the strength of the LORD for his safety than that of horses, horsemen and chariots. He knew that none of the great men were delivered by their strength but by the strength of the LORD.
The eyes of the LORD are always upon those who hope in His mercy and the counsel of the LORD prevails in all the generations for ever and ever. Blessed is the nation that has the LORD God as their rock of refuge and depend on Him. Blessed are those whom the LORD has chosen for His own inheritance. The LORD looks down upon the sons of men and their works from his habitation, which is heaven, and shapes their hearts alike.
The LORD made heavens and the earth, even by His word and by His breath; He stationed the stars, sun and moon in their places. Dust is man made from, and dust he will return to. Man became a living soul when God blew His spirit into man’s nostrils. Job acknowledged that the Lord made man with clay.
“Behold, I am according to thy wish in God’s stead: I also am formed out of the clay” Job 33:6
The LORD gathered the waters in the Red Sea into two large heaps on either side of the dry ground that He formed for the children of Israel to tread on. The cloud of pillar by day and the cloud of fire by night protected them from the chariots and mighty army of Pharaoh, whom he drowned in the sea. He delivered His children from the bondage of slavery.
Let everything that has breath praise the LORD. Let all the earth fear the LORD and all the inhabitants of the world stand in awe of Him. He spoke all things into existence and by His word were all created. “He spoke and it was done. He commanded and it stood fast”.
Sing to the Lord a new song, play musical instruments skillfully with a loud noise.
The word of the LORD is right, and all His works are done in truth. He is surely not a respecter of persons. The Lord’s name is worthy to be exalted because His judgments are just and righteous. He does His works in truth and loves righteousness and judgment. The earth is full of His goodness.
Bless the Lord, O my soul because He is mighty, yet compassionate, loving and long suffering waiting with His outstretched arm to receive all those who receive Him as Savior. Let all the righteous rejoice in the LORD, praising the LORD. Praise the LORD with musical instruments such as harp, psaltery and an instrument of ten strings.
