For the Son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost. (Luke 19:10)

For the Son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost. (Luke 19:10)

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life” (John 3:16)

It was a debt that only the Son of God could pay; and Lord Jesus Christ paid the price of our sin by shedding His blood upon the cross. Jesus came into this world and died on behalf of us and rose from the dead on the third day.

Thus, Lord Jesus redeemed us from the bondage of sin; but then salvation is available for man only by accepting Jesus as Lord and by believing in heart that God raised Him from the dead on the third day.

Lord Jesus suffered on the cross on behalf of us, and yet it was a cry of a winner, who came into this world with a definite purpose of fulfilling the desire of the Father. It is the cry of the winner, who accomplished all that He was to do on this earth, according to the wishes of the Father.

Lord Jesus came into this world

1.To glorify the Father on the earth (John 5:36-37; John 12:28; John 17:4)
2.To seek that which was lost (Luke19:10)
3.To Provide atonement of sins (Romans 3:23-25)
4.To Reconcile man to God (2 Corinthians 5:18-21)
5.To fulfill prophecies; the first one being Genesis 3:15
6.To be the obedient servant (Isaiah 53)
7.To Provide shield of faith to quench the flaming arrows of the evil (Ephesians 6:16)
8.To Quicken (Ephesians 2:1,5)
9.To pave the way for unification of Jews and Gentiles (Ephesians 3:6)

“Yet it pleased the LORD to bruise him; he hath put him to grief: when thou shalt make his soul an offering for sin, he shall see his seed, he shall prolong his days, and the pleasure of the LORD shall prosper in his hand” (Isaiah 53:10)

Lord Jesus Christ did not exalt Himself to be made a High priest but the Father declared Him as “You are my Son”. Jesus delivered us from the bondage of sin and became High Priest and the mediator between God and man. There is, therefore, no other mediator needed now to approach the Father in heaven.

“Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil; And deliver them who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage” (Hebrews 2:14-15)

“So also Christ did not exalt himself to be made a high priest, but was appointed by him who said to him, ‘You are my Son, today I have begotten you’; “ (Hebrews 5:5 ESV)
