Mary was highly favored woman among women and as the angel said Holy Ghost came upon her and the power of the Highest overshadowed her. Consequently, she brought forth a man, even without her union with man, a child who was called JESUS, the Son of God. He was holy child of Virgin Mary. The Prophesies declared that He shall be great, who shall be called the Son of the Highest, who will inherit the throne of his father David, and shall reign over the house of Jacob forever, and of His kingdom there shall be no end.

Mary’s Cousin Elizabeth, who was barren, conceived six months before Jesus was conceived in the womb of Virgin Mary. It came to pass that when Elizabeth heard about the child in Mary’s womb, she was filled with Holy Spirit and said to Mary “Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb. And whence is this to me, that the mother of my Lord should come to me? For, lo, as soon as the voice of thy salutation sounded in mine ears, the babe leaped in my womb for joy. And blessed is she that believed: for there shall be a performance of those things which were told her from the Lord”.

“In response Virgin Mary proclaimed “… My soul doth magnify the Lord, And my spirit hath rejoiced in God my Saviour”. (Luke 1:46-47)

Mary remembered the words of consolation from the angel and realized that she was human and the child in her womb was Holy child, the Son of God, who is the Savior of the world. She called the child in her womb as the “Lord”, and acknowledged that her spirit has rejoiced in God her Savior, who is Lord Jesus Christ (Luke 1:28-47)

After the days of Mary’s purification she and her husband Joseph went to Jerusalem and offered a pair of turtledoves as sacrifice. There was a man, whose name was Simeon, who was very old and it was revealed to him by the Holy Spirit that he should not see death before he saw the Lord’s Christ (the anointed; or Messiah, who is Lord Jesus Christ) (cf. Luke 2:26)

When Simeon came to know that the Savior was born he came by the Spirit into the temple and took the child in his arms and blessed God and said to the Lord to permit him to depart in peace. He testified that his eyes have seen the salvation from the Lord, and that the Lord was the light to lighten the Gentiles, and the glory of His people Israel.

One of the seven sayings of Jesus on the cross was:

“Behold thy son”… and he continued saying … “Behold thy mother”

When Jesus therefore saw his mother, and the disciple standing by, whom he loved, he saith unto his mother, Woman, behold thy son! Then saith he to the disciple, Behold thy mother! And from that hour that disciple took her unto his own home. (John 19:26-27)

When Jesus was in human form having relinquished his glory to become one like us He honored his mother. When he was hung on the cross he gave the responsibility, to one of his disciples John, to look after his mother.

Likewise Jesus also comforted his mother that his disciple John, whom he loved, would be her son from then onwards. Jesus showed great love towards everybody on this earth. His love included healing, forgiving sins, and bearing our sins upon himself.

Jesus was the Son of God, who had divine nature in himself while on this earth, in addition to having human nature. He replied to his mother, once, that he came into this world to do His Father’s business.

The Father’s business in him and through him was to glorify the Father’s name and accept crucifixion bearing our sins upon him in order to redeem us from the bondage of sin. His Father’s business was more important for him, but he did not neglect his responsibilities while he was on this earth.

Mary the earthly mother of Jesus and Joseph did not find him after their one day’s journey while returning from Jerusalem to their native place Galilee. They had been to Jerusalem to celebrate Passover feast.

They supposed that Jesus, who was then a twelve-year old boy, was in their company but having not found him in their company they returned to Jerusalem and found him sitting in the temple learning in the midst of doctors, hearing and asking them questions.

They did not find him until three days past and when they found him they were surprised to see that all who heard him were astonished at his understanding and answers. They were all amazed. At this time Mary, as a human, and concern for him, asked Jesus why he dealt with them in that way and said she and Joseph were seeking for him with sorrow. (Luke 2:44-48)

It is at that time that Jesus replied to her saying, “And he said unto them, How is it that ye sought me? wist ye not that I must be about my Father’s business?” (Luke 2:49)

However, when He was breathing his last on the cross having taken up on himself our sins, he said to his mother, “Behold thy son” and to his disciple John, whom he loved he said “Behold thy mother”

Jesus fulfilled every responsibility that was given to him upon this earth before he died for our sake. He was buried and rose on the third day. Later, he ascended into heaven and seated on the right hand of the Majesty. He promised that all those who have accepted him as their savior will have everlasting life and be with him for ever and ever.

“These all continued with one accord in prayer and supplication, with the women, and Mary the mother of Jesus, and with his brethren” (Acts 1:14)

“Is not this the carpenter’s son? is not his mother called Mary? and his brethren, James, and Joses, and Simon, and Judas? And his sisters, are they not all with us? Whence then hath this man all these things?” (Matthew 13:55-56)

“James, a servant of God and of the Lord Jesus Christ, to the twelve tribes which are scattered abroad, greeting” (James 1:1)

“Jude, the servant of Jesus Christ, and brother of James, to them that are sanctified by God the Father, and preserved in Jesus Christ, and called” (Jude 1:1)

Bible says about Lord Jesus Christ

“Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God: But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men: And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross. Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name: That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. (Philippians 2:6-11)

The Lord grew up in a poor carpenter’s family. He preached the Kingdom of God; way to obtain salvation, died for our sake upon the cross of Calvary, was buried and rose upon the third day. Later, he ascended in to heaven. He said

“…I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me”. (John 14:6)

Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved. (Acts 4:12)
