PRAYER OF AZARIAH
PRAYER OF AZARIAH
It is a fictitious song in prayer added after Daniel Chapter3:23 as if The Three Holy Children namely Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego sang song to the LORD while they were in the furnace.
“And they walked in the midst of the fire, praising God, and blessing the Lord. 2 Then Azarias stood up, and prayed on this manner; and opening his mouth in the midst of the fire said, 3 Blessed art thou, O Lord God of our fathers: thy name is worthy to be praised and glorified for evermore” Prayer of Azariah [– King James Bible “Authorized Version”, Cambridge Edition]
The spurious insertion makes it appear as if there was a time delay for Christ in “Theophany” to be with Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, which if it was true, they would have been burnt alive; but in fact Nebuchadnezzar saw the fourth one in the midst of the fire.
The canonical Old Testament Daniel 3:23-24 read…
“And these three men, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, fell down bound into the midst of the burning fiery furnace. Then Nebuchadnezzar the king was astonied, and rose up in haste, and spake, and said unto his counsellors, Did not we cast three men bound into the midst of the fire? They answered and said unto the king, True, O king” (Daniel 3:23-24)
