O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory?   The sting of death is sin; and the strength of sin is the law. (1 Corinthians 15:55-56)

Lord Jesus Christ defeated the power of death and the death once and for all by His own resurrection. The grave could not hold Jesus. He was raised and His body did not see corruption.

“He seeing this before spake of the resurrection of Christ, that his soul was not left in hell, neither his flesh did see corruption” (Acts 2:31)

“For as by one man’s disobedience many were made sinners, so by the obedience of one shall many be made righteous” (Romans 5:19)

We have assurance by the Words of Jesus that we will not be left in the grave nor is the death cessation of life. The dead in Christ shall rise first and will say…  “O death, where is thy sting”, and then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds and say… “O grave, where is thy victory?”

“For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord”. (1 Thessalonians 4:16-17)

“In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed” (1 Corinthians 15:52)
